LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska’s governor has ordered flags on state property to be flown at half-staff this weekend to honor firefighters killed in the line of duty.

Gov. Pete Ricketts has asked that all U.S. and state flags be lowered during daylight hours on Sunday to observe the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

Ricketts’ request is in accordance with a proclamation from President Donald Trump.

Each year, the country honors its fallen firefighters during a service at the site of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial near Washington, D.C. The ceremony includes the placing of a presidential wreath at the monument and dedication of a plaque honoring those who died in the line-of-duty during the previous year.
