Two Chadron State College cowboys won events and two CSC cowgirls were runners-up at the Central Wyoming College rodeo in Riverton over the weekend.
Miles Englebert of Edgemont, S.D., scored 78 points twice while winning both go-rounds of the bull riding. He was the only contestant to ride both of his bulls for the required eight seconds. Englebert also made the finals of saddle bronc riding and was the runner-up all-around cowboy.
CSC’s other event winner was Kyle Bloomquist of Raymond, Minn., in bareback riding. He won the opening go-round with 84 points and was third in the finals on Sunday with 73 points.
Bloomquist has taken a big lead in bareback riding in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. He also won it at the Chadron State rodeo that opened the season and placed fifth at the Sheridan College rodeo a week ago.
Rowdy Moon also placed in bareback riding at the third consecutive rodeo this fall. He was second in the opening go-round at Riverton with 73 points and was fourth in the finals with 66 points to finish fourth overall.
The Chadron State cowgirls who earned second place in their events at Central Wyoming also did that at the CSC rodeo. They are breakaway roper Hanna Hostutler of Philip, S.D., and goat tier Kaycee Monnensof Hulett, Wyo., in goat tying.
Hostutler was fifth in the first breakaway go-round in 3.0 seconds and won the finals in 2.6 seconds. Monnens was fourth in the first goat tying go-round in 7.7 seconds and moved up to second in the finals in 7.6 seconds to nail down her runner-up honor.
Two more CSC cowgirls also placed among the top six in their events. Madison Kahl of Calhan, Colo., finished fifth in breakaway roping in 3.1 and 10.6 seconds and Brianna Williams was sixth in goat tying in 8.5 and 8.3 seconds.
Four other CSC contestants reached the finals at Riverton. They are Rieley Maier of Bowdle, S.D., breakaway roping; Shania Macomber of Arthur, Neb., goat tying; Justin Kissack of Gillette, Wyo., bareback riding; and Devin Dibbern, steer wrestling.
The region’s action this coming weekend will be at Lamar College in southern Colorado.
