On Thursday, August 2 at approximately 2:00pm a vehicle and motorcycle accident happened on Highway 87 and 25th street and Nance Road. According to Box Butte County Chief Deputy J.D. Sutphen, a 1994 Buick Sedan was northbound on Highway 87 making a left turn onto 25th street and Nance Road, while a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle was trying to pass. As the Buick was turning left, the driver of the motorcycle struck the automobile’s driver’s side door. The driver of the Buick is a local person, and the motorcycle operator was from Hershey, NE. The Box Butte County Sheriff’s Department will not release the names of those involved in this accident.
Deputy Sutphen says both individuals were transported to Box Butte General Hospital with injuries; the motorcycle driver was later airlifted to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Sutphen says the accident scene was cleared around 3:30pm to 4:00pm. Alcohol or drug use was not suspected in this accident. Neither individual suffered life-threatening injuries.
