4-H’ers FIRE UP THE STAGE TO START THE DAWES CO. FAIR

4H EMBLEM4-H members in the Dawes County 4-H Fashion Show were a hot beginning to the County Fair events last Wednesday. Seventeen 4-H members entered 45 clothing exhibits. Clover Kids and future 4-H members modeled their favorite outfits. Receiving rainbow ribbons were Kenli Boeselager, Trinity Boeselager, Haylee Wild, Caroline Butler, and Madilyn Hall.

The Senior Best of Show Stylist Award was presented to Jessica Jersild styling a print sun dress. Jersild is the daughter of Sandy and Craig Jersild of Chadron. Jersild will represent Dawes County at the Nebraska State Fair 4-H Fashion Show in Grand Island. Katie Lewin, daughter of Bob and Karen Lewin of Chadron, will also represent Dawes County at the Nebraska State Fair in the Shopping in Style Fashion Show. Lewin styled a black and grey jean outfit with sparkling silver accessories.

Intermediate and Junior Best of Show Stylist Awards went to Eric Vahrenkamp and Alyssa Snyder, respectively. The Best of Show Stylist awards were sponsored by the Wilma Arner Memorial.

Reserve Champion Stylist ribbon went to Ryan Vahrenkamp (Junior). Styling ribbons were awarded as follows:

Decorate Your Duds- purple-Jess Jersild, Cameron DeNovellis (2), Josie Stewart, Kyanna Fisher, Pamela Fisher; blue-Cameron DeNovellis, Katelyn Briggs, Alyssa Snyder; rainbow-Caroline Butler

Clothing 2- purple-Jess Jersild

Shopping in Style- purple-Katie Lewin

Clothing exhibits receiving Best of Show awards were made by Katie Lewin, Cameron DeNovellis and Alyssa Snyder. Their awards were sponsored by the Carma Arner Magenheimer Memorial. Reserve Champion awards were given to Jess Jersild, Josie Stewart and Katelyn Briggs.

In the Creative Clothing category, Jessica Jersild received the Senior Best of Show award sponsored by Hanger Heaven Style Consulting – Jamie Goffena. Cameron DeNovellis created the Intermediate Best of Show exhibit. DeNovellis’ award was sponsored by Dawes County Abstract. The Junior Creative Clothing award, sponsored by Buzz and Rosalene Tollman, was given to Alyssa Snyder. Reserve Champion awards went to Jessica Jersild, Kyanna Fisher and Alyssa Snyder.

Stephanie Cogdill was Mistress of Ceremonies. Decorating the stage and organizing the clothing judging and fashion show were 4-H volunteers: Kristi Snyder, Judy Vahrenkamp and Shelley Dunbar. Jamie Goffena, Extension Educator for University of Nebraska-Lincoln said, “4-H is a great way for youth to learn life skills. The 4-Hers were fired up for fun in their stylish fashions.”
