COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chadron State’s indoor track team excelled in the classroom as well as on the track this year, with 28 members of the men’s and women’s squads receiving Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field All-Academic honors.

Leading the way were  Gavan Archibald, Kyle McCarthy and Brandon Segelke… all named All-Academic First Team. Archibald made the list last year as well.

The Eagles also put 14 athletes on the men’s Honor Roll and 11 on the women’s Honor Roll. To qualify for  all-academic honors, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and have completed at least two semesters at their current institution.

Archibald, a native of St. Ann, Jamaica, has a 3.66 GPA, McCarthy, a junior of Aurora, has a 3.85 GPA and Segelke, a senior of Sidney, has a 3.54 GPA. All  are business administration majors.

The 11 women’s honor roll selections are Kali Blevins of Harvard, Shelby Guy of Akron, Colo., Mel Herl of Eaton Colo., Aria Hughes of Hay Springs, Alyssa Norton of Rushville, Jayme Nunes of Alliance, Angela Schafer of Rapid City, S.D., Cyndi Thomas of Omaha, Sarah Townsend of Douglas, Wyo., Leah Uhlir of Sidney, and Rebecca Volf of Wood River.

The 14 men’s selections are Dylan Brant of Canon City, Colo., Barrett Browne of Sidney, Neb., Jacob Brunette of Pinedale, Wyo., Dean Francis of Montego Bay, Jamaica, Alex Graham of St. Leonardo, Jamaica, Simon Gudeta of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Doug Harris of Las Vegas, Nev., Alex Johnson of Kearney, Zerek Jones of La Junta, Colo., Will McLaughlin of Grants, N.M., Ethan Proud of Pinedale, Wyo., Spencer Rien of Mitchell, Tanner Rien of Mitchell and Cody Roberts of Trinchera, Colo.

Western State’s Tara Richardson is the RMAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year. University of Colorado-Colorado Springs’ Ryder Tam is the RMAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year.
