LONDON (AP) – The man who used The Beatles as his backing band before anyone knew who The Beatles were has died. UK’s Telegraph newspaper reports Tony Sheridan has died at the age of 72. Details of his death were not given, but Sheridan had heart surgery last year. The Beatles met Sheridan while they played clubs in Hamburg. Sheridan recruited The Beatles to back him up at a Hamburg club. They were credited as “The Beat Brothers” on Sheridan’s recordings of “My Bonnie” and “When The Saints Go Marching In.”
